Cruise packing is its own discipline

Cruises are the packing problem Southampton has that nowhere else in Britain has at the same scale. You are packing for two or three quite different wardrobes at once - daywear, evening wear and at least one formal night - and unpacking all of it into a cabin with a wardrobe you could describe as optimistic.

The way that works is to pack by occasion rather than by garment type. One cube for evenings, one for days ashore, one for sea days and the pool. On embarkation day you lift three cubes into three shelves and you are unpacked in about four minutes.

Formal wear needs its own handling. Anything that must arrive uncreased goes flat in a firm cube at the top of the case, never rolled and never underneath shoes. A hanging organiser is the other answer, because it turns a cabin's single rail into something with layers.
